Being able to hear 100Ω against 47kΩ without crawling behind the rack is worth the money on its own.

RIAA equalisation is not a tone control — it is the inverse of the curve the record was cut with, and any deviation is a permanent error applied to everything you play. This stage holds ±0.2dB from 20Hz to 20kHz using 0.5% film capacitors selected in matched pairs, and we ship the measured curve rather than the target. Gain is switchable at the front: 42dB for moving magnet, 64dB for moving coil, with loading selectable at 100Ω or 47kΩ. The power supply is external and linear, sitting in its own brick a metre away, because a transformer inside a chassis amplifying at 64dB is a hum you will spend a year chasing.
