Pads are the first thing to fail on any headphone, usually at eighteen to thirty months. They are also the component most often unavailable, which is how a €700 headphone becomes landfill. Ours use a bayonet mount that has not changed since the first product and will not change, so a pad bought today fits a first-generation N1. The foam is a 45kg/m³ memory formulation chosen because it recovers rather than compressing permanently.
