Honest about the tuning
Every other brand claims flat. This one explains why an on-ear cannot be and tunes for it instead.
Engineering
An on-ear cannot achieve a reference curve — the seal is against the ear rather than around it, so low-frequency response depends on head shape in a way that cannot be tuned out. Rather than claim flatness we tune the Field with a deliberate +3dB shelf below 120Hz to compensate for the average seal loss, and we say so. It is the only product in the catalogue that is not flat, and it is the one we recommend for travel.
